CHRISTIAN BLACK

Christian Black, is a MultiEthnic visual artist of Spanish, West African and Irish heritage. He was born in Madrid, Spain and raised in Los Angeles, CA from the age of four.

Black has 13+ years of related work experiences creating art aimed at raising the public awareness of the brutal homeless street life culture in Los Angeles.

His art documents his own personal experiences, to capture scenes and events that occur on a daily basis and he expresses them through this never before seen body work.

Black’s inspiration comes from masters like Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, Rembrandt, and Joseph de Ribera. He’s influenced by how dark pigments take on an important place in the palette with depictions of Religious and Baroque dramatic Realism.

For the most part he works with oil on canvas with a new focus on wooden sculptures.
